Pakistan possesses an abundance of breathtaking natural landscapes, cultural diversity, and historical richness. It has long been recognized as an untapped gem in the world of tourism. The theme of Sustainable Tourism is not only timely but also emblematic of Pakistan's potential to emerge as a top destination on the global tourism map.
However, as we celebrate this potential, we must also acknowledge that Pakistan, like many other nations, stands at the precipice of sustainability challenges. Climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation pose significant threats to our delicate ecosystems and the very landscapes that attract tourists. It is incumbent upon us, as responsible stewards of our environment and culture, to address these challenges.
The 14th ICMR provides us with a unique platform to delve into the intricate relationship between tourism and sustainability. By fostering discussions, sharing research findings, and collaborating on innovative solutions, we can pave the way for a sustainable future where Pakistan thrives as a world-class tourist destination while preserving the environment and safeguarding the well-being of our communities.
International Conference on Management Research (ICMR) is flagship research forum of Faculty of Business and Management Sciences that over the period of last 13 years have provided knowledge-based solutions for the uplift on various sectors and geographical regions. At the closing ceremony of our last conference, we announced that 14th ICMR will focus on prospects and challenges of Sustainable Tourism. Aligned with the theme, over the past year, our dedicated faculty members and researchers have embarked on a remarkable journey towards understanding and advancing Sustainable Tourism. This has led to the production of a diverse array of research outputs, including blogs, policy reviews, and research articles that explore the multifaceted aspects of sustainability in various forms of tourism, such as religious tourism, adventure tourism, food tourism, cultural tourism, and medical tourism.
At the 14th ICMR, while taking opportunity to share our learning, we are looking forward to learning from the experiences and research outputs of scholars, researchers, industry stakeholders, and government representatives from both within and outside Pakistan. The conference will provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge, the sharing of best practices, and the forging of partnerships that will propel the cause of Sustainable Tourism forward.
